LANSING, Mich. — Sen. Roger Victory has been appointed the new chairman of the General Government appropriations subcommittee.
The subcommittee’s budget includes funding for local government revenue sharing, the Legislature and the offices of the governor, secretary of state and attorney general.
“I want to thank Senate Majority Leader Shirkey and Chairman Stamas for this expanded leadership role as we work to pass a responsible budget on time and within our means,” said Victory, R-Hudsonville. “The hardworking folks of Ottawa County and our entire state deserve a balanced budget that provides necessary services in a cost-effective way — and that will continue to be my goal in this new position.”
Victory takes over leadership of the subcommittee from Senate Appropriations Committee Chairman Jim Stamas, R-Midland.
As a member of the Appropriations Committee, Victory will continue to chair the subcommittee on Agriculture and Rural Development and serve as vice chair of the Transportation subcommittee. He is also a member of the subcommittee on Natural Resources and Environment, Great Lakes and Energy.
Victory will also continue to serve as vice chair of the Senate Agriculture Committee and on the Senate Transportation and Infrastructure Committee.
