Sen. Victory supports state budget that invests in our future

LANSING, Mich. — Sen. Roger Victory on Friday voted for a fiscal year 2026 state budget that invests in local roads, cuts taxes for working families and seniors and reduces the size of state government.

“This is a balanced budget that invests in our future by finally making a serious investment in our local roads — while also reducing total state spending and providing much-needed tax relief to seniors and hardworking families,” said Victory, R-Hudsonville. “The two biggest state budget issues I have heard from folks around West Michigan were our roads and the rising cost of living, so we’re investing nearly $2 billion more into fixing our local roads and cutting taxes on tips, overtime and social security.”

House Bill 4706 is the general omnibus budget and includes additional funding to fix local roads and bridges. Senate Bill 166 is the School Aid budget and includes a $593 million increase in the school per-pupil foundation allowance, a 25% boost in at-risk funding and $321 million for school mental health and safety grants.

“This budget includes several good-government reforms, such as enhancing transparency on spending projects, increasing funding for our schools, and saving tax dollars by cutting waste, fraud and abuse,” Victory said.
